Nail Laser Gold Coast | How Fungal Nail Laser Works
The nail laser heats the nail bed of the patient to a temperature that has been shown to kill nail fungus. The skin below the nail bed conducts heat away as it is delivered and so while the treatment may feel hot, it will not burn your skin below or around the nail. It is important to understand that nail laser treatment does not clear the nail during or directly after the treatment.

How It Works

The nail laser heats the nail bed of the patient to a temperature that has been shown to kill nail fungus.  The skin below the nail bed conducts heat away as it is delivered and so while the treatment may feel hot, it will not burn your skin below or around the nail.  It is important to understand that nail laser treatment does not clear the nail during or directly after the treatment.   The dead fungus grows out as the nail grows along its normal course usually between 10 – 15 months for the full replacement of a big toe nail.  Full resolution may be seen earlier if the entire nail is not affected.

Research shows that nail laser is 70 – 83% effective after two to three treatments.  It is recommended you follow the post treatment home care instruction set by your Podiatrist to ensure you get the best chance of successful results for your nails.

Commonly a second and third treatment are spread at 4- 6 week intervals to ensure clear nail growth over the coming months.  A review will also be organised by your Podiatrist at approximately 3 months after your last session to monitor clear growth as well as determine whether the nail needs more laser exposure.
